Donald,
I've seen a report that Zoneminder doesn't work with the 2.6.25 kernel.
I'll investigate that further. In the meantime could I get you to try
two things for me on your system?
1. 1.23.3-1 has migrated to testing. Could you confirm the problem
occurs there too?
2. Can you downgrade to a 2.6.24 kernel and see if the problem goes
away?
