Just to enlighten why the splashy project would like the static
version of the library.

Splashy is a replacment in user land for the kernel graphic boot embellishments.
We use directfb though an issue arises : directfb is in /usr
which some user have in a separate partition not available until
half the boot is done. Thus the need for a full static build of
directfb .

Please give us your point of view : would you include the static
build in your packages or should we ship with our own build of
them ?

Greetings
Alban

PS: we plan to move splashy to the initrd where the static build
will be a requirment for any users whatever their configuration.
