I inherited this description from my predecessor and had retained it partly because it was humorous, but mostly because I couldn't be bothered to think up an alternative. Moreover, as an essential package, this is not something that users generally get a choice to remove, and I would be rather surprised if anyone looking to build a system so stripped down that they are looking at removing essential packages would not know what Perl was. Having said that, the proposed alternative is certainly reasonable and I have no real objections other than the one which Niko raised. While it is true that the text about additional packages is redundant in the face of the dependencies, I see no harm in retaining the explicit list, and if anything I would further stress the fact that this is not intended to be a working Perl installation by itself, and should be used only under adult supervision. Given that the levity is being removed from the short description, we may as well go the whole hawg and close #144193 as well. I've also revised the second paragraph. Description: minimal Perl system Perl is a scripting language used in many system scripts and utilities. . This package provides a Perl interpreter and the small subset of the standard run-time library required to perform basic tasks. For the a full Perl installation, install "perl" (and dependencies "perl-modules" and "perl-doc"). --bod -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
