How did you check that official binaries build against the debian
version of libavcodec51 do work flawlessly with your version of
libavcodec51?

Seriously, I'd love to see a serious answer to that, because if there is
indeed no problem, we could provide "replacment" packages for the
packages in debian, and potentially consolidate packaging work.

True, however that doesn't prevent users to report bugs anyway to
debian. Happened in the past.
