This does not look like an error of the madwifi-source package. Looks like an error of /usr/lib/dpkg/parsechangelog/debian or one of its dependencies. I cannot reproduce it either. Please provide more information if you can, proving there is a problem with the madwifi packaging or this bug will get reassigned to dpkg-dev.
