Hi. This exact problem happened to me last night. I installed etch (amd64) on a new laptop, wasn't happy with the support of the intel GM965 graphics board, and decided to upgrade to lenny for the intel Xorg driver. I selected "printing server", "desktop environment", and "standard system", in the etch installer.
Then it complained of this error. I can't send the file now, because I'm not at that computer, I'll try to send it asap, (in some 6 or 7 hours hopefully, else in a couple of days :( ) I'm just replying since I see the bug marked as unreproducible, and it just hit me.
