$ pidof xscreensaver
12165
$ xrandr --output LVDS --off; xrandr --output LVDS --auto
$ pidof xscreensaver
$


If I start xscreensaver in a console and does the xrandr stuff in another I can 
see:
$ xscreensaver -nosplash 
xscreensaver: 21:54:57: bad craziness: xinerama screen count changed from 1 to 
0!
[1]    12561 abort      xscreensaver -nosplash
