route(8) says: irtt I set the initial round trip time (irtt) for TCP connections over this route to I milliseconds (1-12000). This is typically only used on AX.25 networks. If omitted the RFC 1122 default of 300ms is used. RFC 1122 default initial RTT is 0. It's the initial RTO (retransmission timeout) that is 3000ms (not 300), which is achieved by setting rttvar accordingly (if I understand correctly). I'm not aware of the 12000 limit. The TCP rto_max is 120 seconds (120000). I'm under the impression that values of rtt under 3s are ignored at least with the 2.6.24.2 kernel, so the range could be (3000-120000). I'm not sure what the "AX.25" refers to. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.25-rc8 (PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_GB.ISO-8859-15, LC_CTYPE=en_US.ISO-8859-15 (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages net-tools depends on: ii libc6 2.7-11 GNU C Library: Shared libraries net-tools recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
