I'll just reply to the relevant stuff. :) > Maybe just don't create the emergency user in this scenario. Sure > the instance would be unusable, since there are no valid > credentials, You need a password for the emergency user, and the emergency user is a super user of sorts, so setting a default for all Debian installations would be horrible. Can you imagine how many zope sites would pop up here and there with unchanged emergency user passwords? > Why would you keep the 2.6 packages in etch? This is a valid question if you mean "sarge", one which I cannot answer. However, like you, I am maintaining Zope sites that run on 2.6 out of the box on woody. I would hate to be forced to replace them with from-source installs when I upgrade, since any minute not spent on migrating them to 2.8 is a waste. Whether zope 2.6 will still be in etch is impossible to say right now. > | Anyway, do people want me to fix this? If so, how? > > I'd rather see sarge released and the 2.7 (and [soon] 2.8 and 3.1) > packages matured. Sorry, but the Zope situation in sarge will not be significantly better than it is now. Some work has been done, but I cannot see anyone running a reasonable Zope site with just Debian packages right now. We are going to work on this starting at debconf5, so if you are interested in helping out, hop on over to pkg-zope on alioth. -- .''`. martin f. krafft <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> : :' : proud Debian developer, admin, user, and author `. `'` `- Debian - when you have better things to do than fixing a system Invalid/expired PGP subkeys?
