Bonjour,
I cannot read the content of an belgian electronic identity card
inserted in a acr 38 reader.
The reading application (beidgui) reports that there is no card in the
reader.
The reader and card are new and working on a another computer running
another operating system.
If I take a look in the /var/log/syslog file, I see the following:

I tried the reader and card on a another computer running another
operating system and there it works.
The brand of the smart card reader is ACS. The model is ACR38U-CFC-BLI.
see http://www.belgeid.be/
I use the reader driver provided by debian : libacr38u &
libacr38ucontrol0 version 1.7.9-3
I also tried the reader driver provided by the manufacturer of the
reader : (fedora rpm) acr38udriver version 1.8.0-2
In this case I see in the syslog :
May 17 22:56:05 max pcscd: hotplug_libhal.c:341:HPAddDevice() Adding USB
device: usb_device_72f_9000_noserial_5_if0

May 17 22:56:06 max pcscd: readerfactory.c:997:RFBindFunctions() Loading
IFD Handler 3.0
when pluging the reader.
The version of the card related software: beid-tools, beidgui, libbeid2
& libbeidlibopensc2 is 2.6.0-3.1
I'm not sure at all that the bug is located at your side because I do
not clearly understand the software stack between the hardware and the
me. But the only "error" information i see comes from pcscd.
I hope I give you enough information to begin to investigate where this
issue could be located.
Thanks in advance.
The problem is on the smart card reader driver side. I reassigned this
bug to the ACR 38 driver packages.
I also note that a newer version of the driver (1.8.0) is available on
ACR web site (at least the binary for Fedora 7).
Regards,
