Woody g++ is not able to build aptitude on hppa, mips and mipsel. Since woody packages need to build with woody g++, there is no possibility to fix that bug in woody, unfortunately. > I'm sure that I can figure out some way to upgrade this system to Sarge > even if neither of those are done (I've backported enough packages myself > for one thing; and done Debian upgrades since Bo without using aptitude), > but in the interests of accurate documention it seems something worth > addressing. We are aware of this bug and are considering what alternatives to propose. So far, the best alternative we have is to ask mips/el users to do: apt-get update apt-get install aptitude aptitude -f dist-upgrade Would that work for you ?
