For the Debian packages, > this might be a good solution. Yes, only Debian and Ubuntu derivatives have x-www-browser; maybe others have similar virtual binaries, I don't know. I think firefox would be the good choice, it's very popular and has its binaries in every distribution and *nix systems as well.
