Hi, I'm experiencing this bug too, so I thought I'd come here and report it. In my case however, the cause is quite obvious: my home directory is on AFS, and the bug manifests when my AFS tickets have expired. I would imagine that gnome-screensaver tries to access one or more files inside my home directory before presenting the unlock dialog, and fails.
