All the servers are marked with "offline", therefore I did not expect this to be a problem. What's more, my local router is always on, so DNS is permanently available. I wonder if the boot sequence is to blame. However I cannot check, since in the meantime I have removed chrony and switched to ntp, as it appears to "just work".
