I'm unable to reproduce the effect shown in the screenshot.  I start a
maximized gvim, :tabnew, and switch back to the first tab.  The
statusline is still visible and there's no visual corruption.

Patch 7.1.244 fixed a rounding problem when resizing the visual area.
This may be why I'm not able to see this issue.  Are you still able to
reproduce it?
