Thanks for the detailed report, it made it very easy to spot. The
problem was that empty netgroups wern't handled properly (a return code
of NSS_STATUS_NOTFOUND was returned). This has been fixed (r720) and now
also netgroups with other nested netgroups that don't exists are handled
like in /etc/netgroup.
