I confirm latest gnome-pilot version has fixed the bug for me. I can now sync again my palm based garmin. (Apart from the fact tah i got all my contacts and calendar event duplicated....)
BTW, i had to reconfigure gnome-pilot to use the "usb:" peripheral instead of "/dev/pilot" to get it work properly with this version.
