Not reproducible here, I suspect there is a broken add-on package that
causes the problem.

Please retry with "emacs22 -q" and "emacs22 -Q".  If the problem
persists with -q but not with -Q, please send the contents of the
/etc/emacs/site-start.d and /etc/emacs22/site-start.d directories.
