Package: gdm Severity: minor After reading the source code of gdm carefully, I found gdm is quite desktop-independent. To be more accurate, if I'm correct, gdm 'DOES NOT' require gnome at all. However, apt-get by default install gnome-session along with gdm due to its policy change. Since gnome-session is put in "Recommends" of gdm, it gets installed automatically with a lot of unnecessary gnome stuff. So we recommend that gnome-session be moved to "Suggests".
