Package: iceweasel
Version: 2.0.0.14-0etch1
http://www.greenend.org.uk/rjk/bzr/disorder.dev/tests/dtest.py has MIME
type "text/x-python". This is the MIME type assigned to it by Debian's
apache, so presumably a reasonably widespread assignment.
If I try to visit this URL in Iceweasel then instead of displaying the
text of the file it offers to open it in less. Accepting this
suggestion does not work properly; if I look in my ~/.xsession-errors
then I find the content of the file. Evidently it is running less but
without any terminal.
I don't know where it's getting this default from but I suspect it's
looking at Debian's /etc/mailcap, and failing to honor the
'needsterminal' setting.
Iceweasel should display unknown text/* MIME types as if they were
text/plain. It will sometimes be wrong, but it'll be right much more
often than at present (which is never), and no more wrong than if it
managed to invoke less correctly (merely more convenient).
Iceweasel should honor the 'needsterminal' setting in /etc/mailcap (or
perhaps not look at /etc/mailcap at all, if it cannot interpret it
correctly).
