The gnome-desktop-environment dependency is here as a compromise for those who want to install a half-assed browser without good GNOME integration and still use this metapackage. The gnome metapackage, on the other side, is here to bring a full-fledged GNOME desktop. That includes a GNOME mail client, a GNOME office suite, and… a GNOME web browser. If you don't like this selection, you can simply remove the gnome metapackage and make your own one, it shouldn't be a problem. Cheers, -- .''`. : :' : We are debian.org. Lower your prices, surrender your code. `. `' We will add your hardware and software distinctiveness to `- our own. Resistance is futile.
