[Patrick, there seems to be a problem with gpg and enigmail when using
large keyrings: gpg goes too sleep for a long time. Not sure whether
you can clarify things.]

and please add "no-auto-check-trustdb" to your gpg.conf. I don't know
how Enigmail uses gpg but for large keyrings it might happen that the
trustdb gets re-calculated over and over.

The lock files are normal and required. If enigmail opens several gpg
processes you might get into a deadlock situation. From you rlisting
it seems that 2 processes are running. Please provide more
information for example by attaching strace to the running gpg
processes.

Shalom-Salam,

   Werner
