Package: python-numarray Severity: wishlist
python-numarray's description should be changed to indicate that it's deprecated, and that python-numpy is the preferred module to use. It also says that it's a reimplementation of Numeric (aka numpy) which further confuses things. It could be changed to: This package is now deprecated, please use the python-numpy package for developing new software. . Numarray is a set of extensions to the Python programming language which allows Python programmers to efficiently manipulate large sets of objects organized in grid-like fashion. These sets of objects are called arrays, and they can have any number of dimensions. . This is a reimplementation of the earlier Numeric module. For the most part, the syntax of numarray is identical to that of Numeric, although there are significant differences. The differences are primarily in new features. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
