I'd like to voice my support to Albert's proposal as well. It's specially easy to mistype rm *~ when ssh'ing a remote machine on a slow link. By the time you can actually see what you just typed, it may be too late to correct it. There's no use to a deadkey ~ in spanish, please change it back.
