you please add one of those to your boot grub commandline
break=mount
break=bottom

With break=bottom, I get the same behaviour as with no break= entry. The kernel panics, with the last few lines of output being:

registered taskstats version 1
Freeing unused kernel memory: 248k freed
Failed to execute /init
Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel

With break=mount I get:

registered taskstats version 1
Freeing unused kernel memory: 248k freed
request_module: runaway loop modprobe binfmt-2209
request_module: runaway loop modprobe binfmt-2209
request_module: runaway loop modprobe binfmt-2209
request_module: runaway loop modprobe binfmt-2209
request_module: runaway loop modprobe binfmt-2209
input: AT Translated Set 2 keyboard as /class/input/input0

Machine then just sits there doing nothing. I can however use sysrq+b to reboot it, so it hasn't kernel paniced. It just sits there doing nothing

I've tried both options twice, and get the same behaviour each time
