Package: aptitude Version: 0.4.11.2-1 Severity: normal The "hold" status of packages cannot be removed via the commandline. A simple "strace aptitude unhold bash-doc" reveals that /var/lib/aptitude/pkgstates is opened twice for reading, but never for writing. By contrast, "aptitude hold bash" works (and I had to start the TUI to unhold bash again).
