Yes it works. But I just needed to start vlc once with "LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4 vlc"a 2.4/2.6 kernel, or with different versions of the 2.6 kernel? Does "LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4 vlc" help in any way?
After that it was working all time.
