Hi, According to its description devscripts contain "scripts to make the life of a Debian Package maintainer easier". However after spending almost two hours trying to reproduce #476002 with debuild and various gcc-* only to discover that the bug is easily reproducible with any gcc and newest dpkg-buildpackage, I can't say that the description is correct for debuild... If it had called dpkg-buildpackage directly, it possibly would make life much easier.
