Package: libsane
Version: 1.0.19-4
Severity: normal

I use an HP ScanJet 8290 connected via USB. This scanner uses the
avision backend. I tried scanning (with xsane, xscanimage, scanimage,
or gimp-quiteinsane) and I get a segfault. The scanner is recognised
(scanimage -L), but the programs crash before the scanhead starts
moving. I use amd64, but the problem is reproducible on my i386 laptop.
If I downgrade to libsane 1.0.18.6, everything works just fine. I get a
crash even if I try scanimage -T -d avision:libusb:005:077. Let me know
what I can do to help.
