sure, but this is a much more general problem. think about:
- check_by_ssh
- snmp based checks
- http based checks for vhosts/pages/cgi scripts
- probably more
and besides, this *is* a service dependency, so it makes perfect sense to
configure it as such, except for the fact that in 2.x it's currently a
PITA :)
still, i think the patch ought to be reviewed before being included, and
deciding that it's too much work or too complicated to support is perfectly
fine, since we will have 3.x in lenny anyway.
