# Bcc: control tags 393186 + moreinfo thanks Hi Dan,
I am attending to some of the old bugs reported on ifplugd. On 06/10/15 20:46 +0800, Dan Jacobson said ... > However, recently I started getting beeps upon boot, even though in > rcconf I have disabled ifplugd. > > Apparently it is udev or kernel or hald or something trying to turn > sit0 on. Please tell me how to stop this. As the tangle of /etc/* > files is too much for me to fathom. Here are some messages I saw. > > ifplugd(sit0)[2872]: client: Ignoring unknown interface sit0=sit0. This message is from ifupdown. sit0 is not in /etc/network/interfaces hence this message. > does this mean all that could have been avoided? > Here are the rest, not in any order, nor are the PIDs from the same day: > ifplugd(sit0)[2872]: Executing '/etc/ifplugd/ifplugd.action sit0 up'. > ifplugd(sit0)[2872]: Initialization complete, link beat detected. > ifplugd(sit0)[2872]: ifplugd 0.28 initializing. Can you send across the debconf output for ifplugd (basically, just do a cat /etc/default/ifplugd) and also the output of cat /proc/net/dev ? if sit0 is being configured via udev, you really want to remove it from HOTPLUG_INTERFACES in /etc/default/ifplugd (you can also reconfigure the ifplugd package).
