That's a good question. (Of course "I" don't do this....it came that way from upstream.) After having discussed with upstream, it appears that the whole -lstdc++ issue was to work around some MacOS issue. I have a proper patch for the problem, but he may a new release soon to fix anyway. As for this, I'm not sure. What problem does it cause?
