Hm then I am out of ideas. The only thing that might be different than other AMD64 installs is SMP. Could you try MONO_NO_SMP=1 mono someapp.exe? Alternative might be to test Mono 1.9 as I uploaded Mono 1.9 to experimental but it's stuck in NEW [0].
