Package: waproamd
Version: 0.6-7
Severity: normal

When I plug in my USB wireless adapter (GigaFast WF741-UIC), I see the
following in syslog:

May 18 12:53:41 localhost kernel: usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using
ohci_hcd and address 2
May 18 12:53:43 localhost usb.agent[3195]:      zd1201: loaded successfully
May 18 12:53:43 localhost kernel: wlan0: ZD1201 USB Wireless interface
May 18 12:53:43 localhost kernel: usbcore: registered new driver zd1201
May 18 12:53:53 localhost waproamd.hotplug[3289]: Invoking waproamd for wlan0
May 18 12:53:53 localhost waproamd(wlan0)[3299]: waproamd 0.6 initializing,
using wireless event notifications.
May 18 12:53:53 localhost waproamd(wlan0)[3299]: Warning: Could not get
interface address.
May 18 12:53:54 localhost waproamd(wlan0)[3299]: Interface set to status UP.
May 18 12:53:54 localhost waproamd(wlan0)[3299]: Enabling user space roaming
failed, doing without.
May 18 12:53:54 localhost waproamd(wlan0)[3299]: ioctl(SIOCGIWMODE): Invalid
argument
May 18 12:53:54 localhost waproamd(wlan0)[3299]: Shutdown
May 18 12:53:54 localhost waproamd(wlan0)[3299]: Exiting.

So I do "/etc/init.d/waproamd start" to no effect (that's another bug
for another time) and "/etc/init.d/waproamd start wlan0" produces the
following output:

May 18 13:13:27 localhost waproamd(wlan0)[3665]: waproamd 0.6 initializing,
using wireless event notifications.

As you can see, there's an association with the mac address of my
router, but no ESSID or wep key the first time. When dhcp finally times
out and after waproamd's timeout, it correctly associates with my router
and everything is great. This same problem in a different variation
sometimes happens when I'm on the fringe of the range and lose
association, e.g.:
