On my gallery (http://gallery.michaelandkrissy.com/), which is using the
1.5-1 Debian package, this is already implemented:

<link rel="alternate" title="Michael & Krissy's Photo Gallery RSS"
href="http://gallery.michaelandkrissy.com/rss.php";
type="application/rss+xml">
</head>

An RSS logo shows up in the lower right corner of my Firefox window on
both the main page and subpages. I didn't change any of the RSS stuff
on my gallery (i.e. it's the 1.5-1 debian package). Is your gallery
publicly available?
