Oops! Okay, I found the bug. It's embarassing how this was broken for
more than a year already in bzr and nobody else found out so far. I
suppose this means many people just run the stable releases.

Thanks for the report. If you want an immediate fix, you can get a bzr
snapshot and build it yourself. Otherwise, there will be a new snapshot
in get.bitlbee.org/devel/ in less than 24 hours.
