Can you please test the same with the current version of apt-cacher, 0.9.1? http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/a/apt-cacher/apt-cacher_0.9.1_all.deb Also set expire_hours=0 in apt-cacher.conf to make sure the index files are refreshed. If it still does not work, set debug=1 in apt-cacher.conf and retry then. Then read /var/log/apt-cacher/error.log and try to find the reason. If it still does not work, please send the last 300 lines of error.log and your apt-cacher.conf file and sources.list of your client. And output of "ls -lR /var/cache/apt-cacher" on your server.
