Yes. It still happens.

dpkg-query says:
  ii  imagemagick       7:6.3.7.9.dfsg1-2    image manipulation programs

188MB in 85 JPEGs:
  $ montage -label %f -background '#fff' -geometry +4+4 -resize 10% *-*.jpg 
index.jpg

gives

Then I killed it.
