Jamey Sharp and I just finished a proposal and patches for a new handoff interface between XCB and libraries like Xlib/XCB, which should, among other things, fix this synchronization problem. Would anyone experiencing this problem, or any other synchronization or assertion problem with Xlib/XCB, please try building XCB and Xlib/XCB with the patches from http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/xcb/2008-March/003347.html and retesting?
