Package: plib1.8.4c2 Version: 1.8.4-8 Severity: normal Since Debian policy version 3.5.7.0 (from 2002), it has been permitted to make static-only library packages without shared libraries. The current exceptions are listed in Policy section 8.3, where plib might fall under exception 2 and definitely falls under exception 3 ("libraries which are explicitly intended to be available only in static form by their upstream author(s)").
Since plib was meant to be used as a static library, and it's allowed in Debian now, perhaps it's time to drop that shared-library hack. (It might make maintenance of the FlightGear packages easier, too; I could drop my own shared-library hacks.) You could do that when you package 1.8.5 (which is out now). -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (650, 'testing'), (600, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.ISO-8859-1, LC_CTYPE=en_US.ISO-8859-1 (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages plib1.8.4c2 depends on: ii freeglut3 2.4.0-6 OpenGL Utility Toolkit ii libgl1-mesa-glx [libgl1] 7.0.3~rc2-1 A free implementation of the OpenG plib1.8.4c2 recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
