Checking for /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket is obviously not reliable enough. The other problem it seems, is that dbus is not correctly started/upgraded on your system, leaving this stale /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket around. We'll have to investigate that separately. Could you please do a separate etch upgrade test (without hal involved/installed), and see if dbus is successfully running afterwards. If not, please file a separate bug for dbus. Cloning this bug for dbus for the dbus init script "status" action Thanks for the bug report, Michael -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
