These are my opinions after a few searchs: * this bug come from the Ubuntu package, and was fixed on 2008-02-20 by Matthias Klose in version 20060301-1ubuntu1, as you can see at LP (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bash-completion/+bug/190619) and and Ubuntu ChangeLog (http://changelogs.ubuntu.com/changelogs/pool/universe/b/bash-completion/bash-completion_20060301-1ubuntu1/changelog) * the right patch is already linked in the Debian QA page of the package (http://packages.qa.debian.org/b/bash-completion.html), exactly here: http://patches.ubuntu.com/b/bash-completion/bash-completion_20060301-1ubuntu1.patch I repeat I'm new to Debian, so the question is not for criticism but only for the sake of knowledge: can anyone explain me where the Ubuntu bug-fixing cycle meets the Debian upstream and then why this patch was not applied?
