thanks for tracking down the problem.
I uploaded -0etch1.1 to my private repository. The only difference is that it
reverses the above mentioned patch.
deb http://www.joachim-reichel.de/debian etch main contrib non-free

Warning: I don't understand what the mentioned patch is supposed to do. I did
not investigate the problem it was supposed to fix. Works for me, YMMV. Don't
complain if something breaks. I'm not one of the iceape maintainers. This is not
an official package.
