Okay, thanks for the clarification.

I think for a first step, I'll take a look at both the mimms and libmms code 
and see if there are any obvious places where this could be happening (e.g. 
because of casting, etc).

If I don't find anything, I'll probably have to see if libmms upstream can 
be of help.
