I have tested your packages from http://cgi.sfu.ca/~jdbates/debian/pool/mod-gnutls/ and they seem to work well. I ran 'siege' and made some performance benchmarks. I had some problems (can't load mod_ssl and mod_gnutls at the same time?), but I don't think they are related to your packaging.
