Package: slapd Version: 2.2.23-1 Severity: important my machine hangs(not related to slapd) which requires hard reset. However, on next boot, slapd failed to boot because of the backend database issue. I need to call db4.2_recover to fix it in order to restart it. I haven't seen this behaviour when I was using ldbm. Would it be better to have this check down in the slapd rc script as otherwise, a system is basically not usable if I have the user database in LDAP.
