Note that the SMTP standard also has line length restrictions, so more than 1000 characters in a line would not be handled well, unless the data is base64 or uuencoded. Also, I would recommend trying it on another mailer. If, after all this, you are convinced that Icedove has a problem, just submit a bug on Icedove in much the same way you did for this. HTH.
