Package: debreaper
Version: 0.2.1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: upstream

        Hi,

The debreaper package has been automatically imported into Ubuntu but
it defaults to sending crashes to Debian; it's mostly spam to send SEGV
reports from Ubuntu packages towards Debian, but as Launchpad doesn't
 have a debbugs-compatible mail interface, I couldn't easily patch
debreaper to send reports to Ubuntu instead. The solution used for
reportbug is to send reports to the ubuntu-users@ list, which is ugly
IMO. (On the other hand, reportbug is often use as a commodity to send
bug reports to Debian from an Ubuntu system, while I expect debreaper
 less so.)

Hence, I've asked for the removal of debreaper from Ubuntu,
<https://launchpad.net/bugs/193662>, until it can be fixed to work with
 Launchpad.

I'm filing this bug at Debian as I believe this is the upstream place
to send bug reports and I wanted to document the rationale / situation
in case someone wants to spend porting efforts so that debreaper can
submit bug reports to Launchpad over e.g. XML RPC.

Naturally I would understand that you tag the bug + help or wontfix if
you (the maintainer) are not interested in working on this support or
 in ever supporting it.

Perhaps this can also be revisited if Launchpad gains debbugs like
support, as using lsb-release to select an email address would seem
 to be doable.

    Bye,
