Hi, multi-gnome-terminal has the same problem and it's been removed from lenny.
There are ongoing efforts to port m-g-t to gtk2 (https://alioth.debian.org/projects/multignometerm/) Probably we will end up rewriting it with the features used by the 3 team members.
