I check with AIM and the extened info only gets sent out when the song
changes.

It checks each 10 seconds, if the track changes it changes so yes you
could get that behaviour. I think the update interval is hard-coded, it
would be nice to be able to change it.

I'm not sure why it does this but it should cache it.
